Dr. Naomi B. Katunzi


Naomi B. Katunzi is a Research Associate on the Tanzanian team of the AFLA project. She is also a Senior Lecture at St. John’s University, St Mark’s Centre in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. She has taught in several secondary schools, was a school inspector and taught at the University of Dar es Salaam for sixteen years. She was also a director of the Tanzania Institute of Education and retired as Permanent Secretary in the Ministries of Education and Culture, Higher Education and Communication, Science and Technology respectively. Dr Katunzi has written and published a good number of academic papers and has conducted extensive researches and consultancies. She pioneered the Complementary Basic Education in Tanzania (COBET) an alternative programme for out of school children. She holds a PhD in Curriculum Policy and focuses on curriculum development and evaluation. Currently she teaches postgraduate programmes in education.
