Joyce Ndalichako

Professor Joyce Ndalichako is the current Minister for Education, Science, Technology and Vocational Training of Tanzania and a Member of Parliament. Before assuming office she was the Deputy Head of Research, Institute for Educational Development East Africa at Aga Khan University, Tanzania. Her research interests include classroom assessment practices, learning difficulties and mathematics misconceptions, the use of continuous assessment and large-scale assessment. She was the Executive Secretary of the National Examinations Council of Tanzania (NECTA) from July 2005 to August 2014 where she was responsible for overseeing the conduct of the following national examinations in the United Republic of Tanzania: Primary school Leaving Examination, Certificate of Secondary Education Examination, Diploma in Secondary Education and other professional examinations. She is the immediate past President of the Association for Educational Assessment in Africa (AEAA) and member of various assessment organisations including the International Testing Commission and the International Association for Educational Assessment. In 2005 she was a lead national Consultant in the Review of Education Sector Development Programme in Tanzania.
