Natalie Usher awarded Doctor of Philosophy degree

Wednesday, July 25th, 2018

Congratulations to Natalie Usher who has successfully defended her thesis “Learning about Academic Writing through Holistic Peer Assessment”. Her examiners were Professor David Boud, University of Technology, Sydney and Professor Jo-Anne Baird, Oxford University.

In her thesis, Natalie synthesised assessment and self-regulated learning theory to model how students might learn from peer assessment. She put this into practical action, designing and evaluating peer assessment workshops for undergraduates. Her research traces in detail how students learned about and developed their writing before, during and after the workshops.
