Dr Jon Twing appointed Honorary Research Fellow Friday, November 1st, 2013

Dr Jon Twing has been appointed Honorary Research Fellow with OUCEA. Dr Twing is Executive Vice President and Chief Measurement Officer at Pearson Education and he has extensive experience of research, policy and practice in psychometrics in a range of settings (e.g. US, Mexico, Canada, UK, Abu Dhabi, India and Australia). He has worked on large-scale tests such as the SAT, ACT, PISA, NAEP and TIMSS.

Therese Hopfenbeck interviewed by Norwegian School Leader magazine Thursday, October 24th, 2013

Dr Therese Hopfenbeck was interviewed for an article in the School Leader magazine, a Norwegian publication. In the interview, Therese talks about her research in Oxford, her doctoral students, and working at OUCEA. The journalist also asks Carol Brown, one of Therese’s students, about studying at OUCEA. The magazine is in Norwegian.

Response to consultation on primary assessment and accountability Monday, October 7th, 2013

The British Educational Research Association (BERA) in has responded jointly with the Assessment Reform Group (ARG) to the Department for Education’s consultation on primary assessment and accountability. The response is available on the BERA website. Jo-Anne Baird is a member of the ARG and you can read archived material on the group here. 23 Oct 2013 Lecture – Controversy in constructing measurements in the social sciences Thursday, October 3rd, 2013

Professor David Andrich is currently visiting OUCEA. He has a Plumer Fellowship with St Anne’s College and will give a lecture on 23rd October 2013. The lecture is entitled “Controversy in constructing measurements in the social sciences” and takes place at 5.00 pm in the Tsuzuki Lecture Theatre at St Anne’s College, Woodstock Road.
